All About Dental Veneers

ALL ABOUT DENTAL VENEERS

When Dental Veneers are Applied?

Dental Veneers can be used to treat a number of different cosmetic concerns, including chipped, broken, discolored, or smaller-than-average teeth. Some people may only get one dental veneer in the case of a broken or chipped tooth, but many get between six to ten veneers each jaw in order to create an even, symmetrical smile.

How Many Veneers I Need for My Smile Makeover?

Smile makeover is done in different scales but most common scale is 20 teeth, 10 for upper jaw and 10 for lower jaw. Decision making is in accordance with the smile line. Smile line is your teeth which appears when you smile. So if you have a smaller smile line, you can also consider 16 teeth smile makeover, 8 veneers for upper jaw and 8 veneers for lower jaw.

Veneers or Crowns

The key difference between crowns and veneers is that crowns are thicker, covering the entire tooth while veneers are thinner and are designed to just cover the front of the tooth so when it comes to which is best for front teeth, it really depends on the tooth condition. At this point, please be informed that the most common option for smile makeovers is crowns (full veneer crowns).

How Often Dental Veneers Need to be Replaced?

When regular checkups are performed, dental veneers can be used for a long time when the individual is doing very well in oral care. Veneers need to be replaced an average of every ten to fifteen years. But they often last much longer. According to the American Academy of Cosmetic dentistry, veneers last seven to 20 years. If a dentist bonds them well and you take good care of them, veneers can last for more than 15 years.

Bonding or Veneers

Bonding is not an alternative of veneers. While coloration is seen in bonding in a short time, there is no color change in veneers. While bonding is a short-term treatment, veneers are a long-term treatment. A more natural result can be gained with veneers. Tooth colors cannot be changed too much and tooth surfaces have a more rough structure with bonding treatment. Also bonding material is composite filling material which is not as stabil as veneer materials.

I Have Crooked Teeth? What is the Solution?

There are multiple treatment options in dentistry to correct crooked teeth. Teeth can be corrected within 12-18 months by wearing braces with orthodontic treatment or with invisalign treatment. With veneers but full veneer crowns, this treatment process can be reduced to 5-7 days. Also, veneers can provide color and form integrity and a beautiful smile can be provided against crooked teeth.

How Much Shaving From My Teeth for a Dental Veneers?

There is approximately 0.5-1 mm shaving in the teeth for laminate veneers. In zirconium dental veneers, approximately 1-1.5 mm from the tooth surface is shaved. In metal dental veneers, approximately 1.5-2 mm shaving is done on the teeth. The amounts given may vary according to the shape and location of the patient’s natural teeth.

Do I Feel Pain During the Procedure?

Shaving procedures are performed under local anesthesia and then a temporary veneers in the color of the teeth is done to prevent hot and cold sensitivity. A very small number of patients experience a slight sensitivity, and the process is completed without any difficulty.

Types of Dental Veneers

Full Veneer Crowns

The major purpose of a crown is to save your original tooth if it is in healthy enough condition. A dental crown is also considered to be a full Dental Veneer, also known as a “cap” is a type of restorative dentistry. Dental crowns are generally confused with dental veneers. Where veneers cover only the visible surface of a tooth, a dental crown covers the whole tooth. When affixed, the crown fully encases the portion of the damaged tooth that sits above the gum line. Crowns are custom made to fit over each tooth. Crowns are recommended to cover teeth that are damaged, broken, worn down or heavily filled. It can cover up severely damaged enamel that is disrupting your good smile. In some cases where your existing teeth are abnormally shaped or you are unhappy with the general appearance (or discoloration) of them they can be recommended. Crowns can be sculptured to match your existing teeth and close gaps (bridge work) to create a new smile makeover. Dental Crowns will also protect your tooth underneath, preserving your natural tooth and gums for a longer period of time.

E.Max is one of the leading and advanced brands of dental veneers in the world. E-max Laminate Veneers are a type of all-ceramic Veneer with an appealing translucent colour, which is combined with extra strength and durability. This is a top- grade material, which has been harvested for its toughness and durability. E-max has a highly attractive appearance, making it a highly prized Laminate Veneer. Besides providing an aesthetic appearance of teeth, the functional feature creates a more rigid structure than tooth enamel because of ceramic material used in. It is a glass ceramic Veneer which is tough and enduring. E-max Laminate Veneers are crafted from a pure ceramic block, which are available in every shade including Hollywood smile white. E-max Laminate Veneers are designed and made with CAD-CAM Computer System Technology.

Laminate Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers have long been used to create the ultimate smile makeover. They are instant orthodontic answer which largely used for patients that are not satisfied with the colour of their teeth line or have broken, abraded, overlapped teeth, as well as teeth gap. They tend to be very thin, usually about 0.5 mm to 1.2 mm thick (approximately twice the thickness of an eggshell). Dental veneers, despite their thinness, are sturdy and can withstand wear and tear. You may wonder how a thin shell of porcelain can successfully withstand all of the wear and tear that it will be exposed to. Although Laminate Veneers are inherently thin, when they are firmly bonded to and supported by your tooth, it creates a very strong and durable surface.

Laminate Veneer Dental Treatment is the process of adhering a thin layer of porcelain to the front of the teeth by making a slight abrasion on the front of the teeth. The main reason why Laminate Veneer Treatment is preferred by patients is to gain an aesthetic appearance by keeping the most of front teeth.

Dental veneers are wafer-thin laminates or shells of tooth-coloured material (which can be either porcelain, ceramic or composite bonding material). They are “cemented” to the front surface of teeth (a maximum of 10 upper jaw and 10 lower jaw) to enhance their cosmetic appearance like a false fingernail fits over a nail. Porcelain can effectively emulate enamel, the natural substance the outer side of your teeth are made out of. The amount of enamel removed is tiny and will be the same as the thickness of the veneer to be fitted, so that the tooth stays the same size.

Compared to dental crowns, dental veneers only have one side. That is to say, a veneer doesn’t cover all sides of a tooth. It only covers the front, visible side of the tooth. A veneer’s purpose is to improve the appearance of a tooth, not to improve the functionality of a tooth or reverse disease-related problems. If the teeth is too damaged for Veneers a Crown would be more suitable option.

Porcelain veneers are commonly called laminate veneers. Most of the time, very little or no tooth structure is removed before placing veneers which leaves the procedure almost stress-free for the patient. There is no “dark line” that may appear with porcelain fused to metal crowns; they transmit light better and have a more translucent appearance giving them.

Who is Suitable and Who is Not Suitable for Dental Veneers?

* Patients with gum disease and psychological disorders, (It is not possible to apply laminate veneer without solving patient gum problems and psychological disorders.)

* Patients who have problems grinding their teeth during sleep at night (Treatment may take in place if the patient accepts to use gum shield at nights),

* People with jaw structure disorders

are not suitable for dental veneers. If you do not have one of these problems there is no age or gender discrimination in laminated veneer treatment. It can be easily applied to any individual who needs a procedure. Every individual who is not satisfied with their teeth can apply for this procedure and obtain a new and more aesthetic appearance.

Advises for Dental Veneer Cleaning

The care of veneers is the same as the cleaning of natural teeth. Brushing and flossing are the basis for good oral health. Remember that your dentist is your ally to keep your mouth healthy. Schedule regular cleaning and also learn about other products specially designed to protect your veneers. The bleaching gels we use to whiten teeth only work on natural teeth; there are no bleaching effects on porcelain surfaces.

As long as care is taken for oral care, they do not show serious coloration. However, in patients who do not pay attention to oral hygiene, excessive smoking tea and coffee consumption, stains may occur on natural teeth. The correct brushing technique and flossing to be done 2-3 times daily will be sufficient for the maintenance and long-term use of zirconium prostheses.

The routine cleaning you apply to your normal teeth should also apply to dental veneers. Because now they are your natural teeth and you are responsible for their cleaning.
